Gate Valve
Are extremely useful in circumstances where there is very little space along the pipe axis. Also known as a sluice valve, it opens by lifting gate out of fluid path.
Butterfly Valve
Also used where space is minimal, though, unlike gate valves, butterfly valves regulate flow. The pressure loss is reduced when using a butterfly valve.
Solenoid Valves and Coils
An electromechanically operated valve used to control flow of liquid or gas. The main type of solenoid valve is Direct Acting or Pilot Operated.
Pressure/Relief Reducing Valve
Used to control the pressure in a system, it can be adjusted to the desired outlet pressure, mostly from a dial on top of the valve. A PRV will be placed in-line on a mains inlet pipe.
Back Pressure Valve
A control valve that contains pressure on production vessels, EG. Separators, free water knock-outs, treaters. It then releases pressure upstream when the set point is reached.
Check Valve
A one-way valve designed to prevent backflow in a system. It will allow liquids/gases to flow freely one way but closes if the flow turns, which protects pipes and other instruments in the system.
Ball valve
Used in applications that require quick opening and closing speeds, especially during emergencies, as it opens much quicker than a gate valve.
Gas Valve
Used on furnaces for delivering the flow of gas pressure to the furnace, so it remains lit when operational.
Globe Valves
Commonly used in plant piping, Globa Valves are suitable for manual and automatic applications. Unlike Gate Valves, they can be used to regulate flow and complete shut off of flow.
Diaphragm Valves
Often used in the Pharmaceutical and Food & Beverage Industries, Diaphragm Valve design can manage fluids with solid particles, that can allow, block and throttle media flow.
Actuated Valve Packages
Commonly used in process systems that require open and close operations. Operated by either pneumatic, manual, electrical, hydraulic, spring force or self-actuated, Actuated Valves ensure fluid is distributed appropriately across the system.
Pneumatically Operated Valve
AKA Air Operated Valve, is essentially a power-operated pipe valve that uses air pressure to perform the function of a solenoid. Compressed air pushes against piston or diaphragm walls to actuate the valve.
Non Return Valve
The are three main types of Non-Return Valves; Swing Type, Spring Loaded and Clapper type. They only allow media to flow in one direction, this causes large pressure drops in the system which must be taken into account when designing system.
